KENTUCKY BOARD OF LICENSURE FOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

The purpose of the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Occupational Therapy (KBLOT) is to administer and enforce the statutory authority and to monitor the needs of the consuming public. The board examines and licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of occupational therapy. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality. The board conducts formal hearings when necessary and prosecutes by due process any violators of KRS 319A.

The passage of House Bill 657, which became law effective July 15, 2026, requires the board to conduct criminal background checks on new applicants by means of a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint check. The board has filed the appropriate paperwork to be authorized to receive this information from the FBI and does not have an estimated response time. The board is aware that this is causing applications filed on or after July 15 to be delayed and is actively reviewing all potential solutions. See KRS 319A.075 for more information.
